" Studying this subject [IPR] in a Chinese context has been a very stimulating and enriching opportunity."

Original Italian language

In general, studying abroad is considered as a great experience, and my experience participating in this Summer School in China was a unique one. Studying for a month in Beijing was a fantastic opportunity that broadened my horizons and opened my mind to a culture far away from my previous western experiences. I learned how to manage problems from a completely different point of view and I grew a lot as a person.

From a strictly academic perspective, I decided to attend this program because I have been very interested in the content offered by this program, in particular by the curriculum called “Summer Institute on Intellectual Property Rights and China” (IP- China). The subject of law is not usually known to be very international. However, nowadays it is really important to have an international perspective: in fact our increasingly globalized society requires a multicultural perspective. Also, it is evident that in terms of intellectual property protection, China has reached an advanced level of international knowledge. Thus, studying this subject in a Chinese context has been a very stimulating and enriching opportunity.

Through the network of the Summer Institute in China, I had an opportunity to take a position in the IP department of an Italian law firm, where I had a chance to conduct further research while I was writing my graduate thesis on intellectual property issue. After graduation, the international experience that I gained during my study period in China has helped me to find my current job in the Milan-based office of an international law firm. But the strong interest I still have regarded to China, the Chinese culture and the Chinese law following the experience of the Summer Institute in China, convinced me that even in my busy working schedule at the law firm, I have to find time to study Chinese language and culture. For this reason I enrolled into a language course at Fondazione Italia-Cina.

I truly recommend this unforgettable experience that has the power to change the way you see your life!
